Seminar: Carbon Communities, Humus Economicus Collaboratory with Danielle Wild and Teemu Lehmusruusu

Three initiatives in three different countries, all centred around soil and sustainability, met for a joint seminar to share, care and join forces. The Humus economicus research team had the great privilege to meet Teemu Lehmusruusu and Danielle Wild. Teemu told us about his initiative Trophic Verses and his involvement with Carbon Action in Finland. Danielle Wild shared her work with FUSILLI, a H2020 project, which involves transforming the Municipality of Kolding, Denmark and 11 other EU cities into food futures living labs, to work out what it takes to transform EU cities’ food systems to be sustainable. She also introduced the upcoming SOIL project, a collaboration with Design Tasmania and the University of Tasmania Launceston, which looks at land use and soil health as a foundation for flourishing.

The seminar was part of the first Art & Science Retreat organized by the Collaboratory, Ground Work: From the Nothing Forest to the Experimental Field.

We are looking forward to see how these multilayered, networked, highly transdisciplinary art & research initiatives unfolds in the coming years. Read more about our Companions & Partners in the Collaboratory here!
